Much nicer than the ones I have The shoe trees that I bought elsewhere were made in China and they barely smelled like cedar when I got them. With this pair, I could smell the cedar in the packaging before I opened the shoe box that it came in. The wood is almost pink, as it should be. Love that they're made in New Hampshire! June 27, 2012
excellent shoe trees these are not the shoe trees your cobbler will sell you- they are correct, which means they will keep your shoes in perfect shape. I wear size 12D shoes and always purchase the XL March 31, 2012

The heel of the shoe tree has a curved piece of wood, almost as if you could place your fingers there to pick up your shoes. Is that the purpose of this styling detail?

I think it's there to make it easier to remove the shoe tree from the shoe it's in.

These, like most shoe trees, adjust themselves to fit width and length of shoe within the recommended shoe size range. I use extra large on my 12.5-13 C shoes with good results.
