I have been asked to resubmit my detailed review of my last purchase of the Original Polo shirts as Brook Brothers emailed me and said it did not meet their guidlines. I wasn't provided a copy of them so I have no idea which portion needs modification. Currently the Original Polo shirt is being substituted with the Supima cotton model, which to me and my opinion, has a completely inferior collar structure. Although it is disclosed on the invoice as being shirt number 469Q or 470Q they are in fact the Supima cotton models which is affirmed by the fact that the labels in the back of the shirts state that it is Supima cotton, not the Original cotton model that was sold previously. Hopefully this review meets the guidlines and that it informs past purchasers of the Original model that it is no longer being supplied.despite it being included on their website

The quality of this shirt is excellent. The cotton is super soft, and the fit on the slim is great for someone of my build (5'10", 145 lbs). The one complaint I have is the sleeve button. I wish there was a second button to make the cuff a bit tighter. I don't know if I have small wrists or what, but I thought an extra button would be nice.

The Brooks Brothers Button Down Shirt with the original polo collar remains a classic and wardrobe staple. I find the pinpoint cotton version more suited in a warmer climate than the one in supima cotton (which is a bit heavy). As usual, the appearance, cut and quality are top notch. The slim fit is like the regular fit of most other shirtmakers, but it suits me because I like a bit of room in my shirts without feeling overwhelmed by the bagginess that most other shirtmakers offer in their regular fit. Also, no one makes the soft roll button down collar the way Brooks Brothers does.

Because the description for this shirt on the Website uses words like "Classic," "Original," "Polo" and of course "Button-Down," it's easy to mistake this shirt, as I did, for the Oxford classic Brooks Brothers shirts that I and many BB customers have been wearing for decades. Don't be confused. This isn't the heavy Oxford shirt; It's thin, without the Oxford pebbling, and the difference is one that was important to me and that caused me to take it back. (BB accepted it back without complaint). I express no view as to how good this shirt is if you know exactly what you're ordering, but don't make the mistake I did.
If you're looking for the classic, heavy, button-down Oxford shirt that I was, and can wear a Slim Fit, you may want to consider Shirt #132Q instead.

I was surprised to see that the material around the top button is cut squared instead rounded off like so many other dress shirts I've owned. I was wondering if this is a production error, but if not, can I wear the shirt with the top button undone, without a tie?

I am not sure if the tailoring is off, but the material at the top button is squared off instead of cut at a slant. This is my first experience with a shirt cut this way and I am not sure if the shirt can be worn without a tie.
