Rated 3 out of 5 by Too short for wear with white-tie The short 1.75" height of the collar undermines its formal character and declasses it. It is at least a full half an inch too short for white-tie dress. Even for a highly formal black-tie event, I would probably want a taller collar. Unfortunately BB only offers the short wing collar. I hope that will change. January 28, 2013

I purchased the Brooks detachable collar pique bib shirt, because I wear white tie much more frequently than I wear black tie. On the rare occasion that I do wear black tie I would like to be able to wear the same shirt (to avoid purchasing a shirt for one or two wearings a year). Does Brooks make a detachable turndown collar that could be worn with black tie?

From the picture it looks as if the collar has a front button. How does this collar attach to the front of the shirt? My previous detachable collar just had a hole in the front and the shirt has a place to put the collar stud & the collar is held in place front & back with the studs.
