As makers and merchants of fine clothing since 1818, Brooks Brothers is proud to renew our association with the venerable name of Edward Green, a partnership that goes back over fifty years. In 1890, Edward Green opened his workshop in Northampton, England with the aim of making the finest shoes without compromise. Each pair is Goodyear welted for an unrivaled comfort and durability. And each pair is hand-cut from the finest full-grain calf leathers, finally hand-polished into a deep, burnished finish that only improves with time. Calfskin leather with leather lining. Goodyear® welt construction for exceptional wear and durability. Leather sole. Tone-on-tone stitching. Each pair includes an Edward Green cedar shoe tree and flannel shoe bag. Made in England.

Rated 5 out of 5 by classiest shoes ever these are the best shoes i've ever bought. i'm normally an AE guy, but these EGs are in their own league. the first time i wore them, it felt as if i had worn them for years. they do run a bit wide - good for my feet - which is normal for British shoes typically. color is a deep burgundy with excellent burnished toe and heel. goes well with pretty much any color pant/suit except black also comes with a shoe tree that is the exact last on which the shoe was made it's a hefty price for a shoe, but if you take care of them, they'll last for your lifetime November 10, 2011

What last are these made on? The Edward Green 888 last is perfect for my feet, bit I know some of their lasts like the 82 do not fit as well.

For the shoe being sold, were these from a special run specially created for Brook Brothers or is this actually the standard shoe they call the "Inverness" for other retailers?

To any others who later review this - I ordered these shoes and they are listed as the Inverness model commonly offered by EG on the box. And, to be frank, while way too expensive they are completely amazing.

Hello, thank you for your inquiry. The Edward Green Wingtip Bals are amongst our most elegant offerings. They are not an exclusive Brooks Brothers offering, but certainly one of the more popular. These shoes, much like the Inverness, are crafted using Edward Green's popular 888 last, the mold which shapes the shoe. That is why they appear very similar.

After ordering, I found they are indeed the US length with UK widths. Placed mine toe-to-toe with my Allen Edmonds and length was exactly the same as my 12Ds when ordering the EGs in 12E.

I see the sizing lists everything avaialble as a "12 E." Are you only carrying these shoes in an E (i.e. wide) width OR have they / will they be available in a standard D (i.e. medium) width as well?

Hello, thank you for your inquiry. The Edward Green Wingtip Bals are only offered in an "E" width, the English equivalent of the standard "D" width that is common in the United States. Please be advised, these particular shoes have a slimmer silhouette and therefore fit best on a gentleman whose feet are average-to-narrow in width.
