Hello sir, thank you for your inquiry into our Fitzgerald Fit Two-Button Soft Cotton Sport Coat. If your jacket size is a 40-41 short, we would still recommend that you select a 40 short and then look into having it taken out if necessary. If you opted to try a 42 short, you will find that the multiple alterations that will be needed would undoubtedly compromise the integrity of the garment. It would have to be taken in entirely too much. With all of our coats, regardless of the fit (Fitzgerald, Milano, etc) we recommend first starting with your usual size and going from there.
