Rated 5 out of 5 by Superb item Formal cravats are rare but I have a fondness for them dating from when I was married in one. This is a beautiful bit of neckwear that, barring any unfortunate mishaps, I will be wearing to daytime formal events for decades. At the risk of sartorial heresy, I believe that the wearer may forgo the traditional wing collar in favor of a turndown collar if he chooses and is careful to tie everything properly. This would allow the cravat to pair more naturally with a morning suit or stroller, expanding its use beyond the morning coat ensemble. June 24, 2011

Answer:
It wears great with a bow tie or neck tie. The fit is blousy unless you are more portly. Slim fits are not slim, but are better than a standard fit.

Answer:
Traditionally this would be worn to daytime formal events with a morning coat ensemble complete with a shirt with a detachable wing collar. As I mentioned in my review I think it could be worn with a turn-down collar provided care is taken to avoid unsightly bulges or bits of fabric poking out from under the collar. This would allow it to be worn with a morning suit or a stroller, outfits where I think a wing collar would be too much. The advantage of a stroller in particular is that it is more formal than a regular suit, without the ostentation of tails (while I love the appearance of morning coats, they are often over the top).

If you were asking about how to tie it, the simplest way is to loop it once and pin it into place. This item comes with a basic pin, but I would suggest getting a better one.
