Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 109 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great investment I've never liked polo shirts, but knew I was going to give in eventually. My one reservation with Brooks Brothers was the price. However, while out shopping last week, a stack of Golden Fleece polos on the shelf really caught my eye from outside the store. The courteous staff helped me try on a few, and I was hooked. I decided to buy one (white), and am regretting not getting more. I like the comfortable fabric and the soft collar. Predicting that I will soon be buying a lot more of these polo shirts. Rated 5 out of 5 by Good polos worth the money With the excellent cotton BB uses for these polos and the wonderful colors, no wardrobe is complete without them. They wear well, fit pretty well, and look dressy but feel casual. My only issue is that they seem to fit a little snug around my biceps (not because I'm muscular, by far). It could just be me though. I look forward to buying my next 3 to add to my wardrobe. GREAT way to look classy without having to really dress up. June 3, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 A true classic These shirts are a timeless stable to any gentleman's wardrobe. They are comfortable and classic and can be worn to a wide variety of events ranging from a backyard bbq, casual Friday at the office, Saturday at the game, or just lounging around the house. The cut is great and the material is super high quality. I can not understand why anyone would buy any other brand. These are the best looking, fitting, highest quality, and priced more reasonably than the majority of brand name polos. October 31, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Colors, Very Good Shirts I have what I consider a very large collection of these shirts and find that they fit me better than those sold by other manufacturers for Brooks Brothers competitors. I wear the traditional fit to obtain and keep a slightly looser fit. The shirts launder well with minimal shrinkage and depending on the color keep age gracefully after many washings. One thing I find annoying has nothing to do with the shirts themselves. Too many folks think the logo is that of a "pig" and don't realize it (the logo) is that of the Golden Fleece. I get a little tired of explaining. That said, I recommend these shirts for their colors, fit, quality and longevity. One thing that does surprise me is that BB shows these shirts in ONLY the basic colors here at the website. There are many, many more colors available than those shown here and a visit to any store will offer a much larger selection. June 29, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by terrble color fastness i love the fit of the shirts, the clean lines, but the golden fleece shirts must have the worst colorfastness of any manufacturer on the planet. the black shirts are only good for a dozen wears and wash before they are not acceptable to wear anymore. this makes it an expensive purchase .. Rated 5 out of 5 by a hit with all ages This shirt is a staple for my husband (middle aged) and my nephew 21 and my father in his 70's. They come in lots of colors and hold up very well with continued washing. October 26, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by good quality standard polo good quality, lasts a long time, only negative is they run a little big, but is a great product better than many other polos from other companies December 11, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 Awesome Shirt Fabric is nice and comfortable for summer time and fit and color have stayed constant over many wears... July 20, 2011

Answer:
Garment dyed seemed a little slimmer. More of a washed and lighter "college" look as well.

Answer:
I have noticed the garment dyed polos are a slightly tighter fit so I haven't purchased any of those yet which is disappointing because I like some of the colors.

Answer:
Golden Fleece polos retain their vibrant color and their shape thru repeatedly washes. The shirts do not become a sausage nor do they hike up shrunken above your waistline.

Answer:
I have found the garment dyed polos to be cut more trim than the Performance Polos, a plus for a young buyer looking for a contemporary look. The garment dyed process tends to fade with washing and produce variations in color, another contemporary style cue. More traditional taste my choose the "classic" (roomy) fit and colorfast dye of the original Golden Fleece.

Answer:
For the Golden Fleece Polo the chest is slimmer. I wear a M in regular cut and a L in slim. If that helps.

Original fit polo shirts gives you more room at the hips and ribcage. The slimfit is just that a body hugging polo, accentuating the slimness of your rib area and chest area.

My experience has been that the original fit is the standard fit and the slim fit works better for an (slimmer) athletic build.

After going through a first and second standard wash and dry the fabric has gotten stiffer/rougher and is holding wrinkles more. It is not to a large degree, but I much preferred the condition of the fabric before laundering for the first time. Would something like fabric softener return the polo to its original condition?

Answer:
I would advise you against using fabric softener. While it will make your fabrics softer- it will also cause them to fade dramatically over time, and weaken the fiber, resulting in a shapeless form. If you would like your polos softer, do not put them in the dryer- instead hang them on a clothes line- or out to dry on a flat surface in your residence. But never, ever use fabric softener for clothing, on bedding- yes, clothing- NO!

Answer:
I have not experienced your problem with the "1818 Golden Fleece Performance Polo" shirts. Regular machine washing and drying (with a fabric softener sheet in the dryer) have kept the soft, wrinkle-free appearance for several seasons. The same may not be true for the garment-dyed polo or for the factory store "346" polo.

Based on your measurements, you are between a large and extra large slim fit. The best option is to visit a convenient Brooks Brothers location and have a member from our staff assist you.
