Is the size larger than normal? Should you buy a size smaller or larger because of the way it is cut? What does "luxuriously cut" really mean? See where I am going with this? Do these run a little larger than normal, so I would be better off buying a size smaller?

I'd suggest to go with one size smaller than you wear for shirt. It is very roomy. I am Medium with BB casual shirts and outwear and Small fits me perfectly in circumference and length.

If you are an XL but sometimes a Large will do, order a large. This is a room robe.

Wish to purchase Herringbone robe, I am a 46" chest and 16.5 neck size, bearing in mind the apparent generous sizing attributed to this item would a LARGE size fit my sizing or is such a size to fit not available?

I would guee an XL would be better. I have a 42" chest and wear a 16" shirt and wear a large. But it depends also on your height and weight. If you are under 6' tall, an XL would be too long, and you might be better off wiht a large.
