The fit and finish on these are top notch - the shell cordovan is excellent quality and a very nice color; more nuanced than the picture indicates. I have, approximately 8-9 pairs of shell cordovan boots from "The" famous American maker of such things, and these are my favorite - these boots evidence superior quality and better attention to detail. These shoes are made by Crockett & Jones, on the 240 last. I have a pair, and they are lovely.

Glad to hear it! I purchased the boots online in my regular size and anxiously awaiting their arrival. I feel better now as I heard several people state cordovan shoes run large.

I recently purchased these boots and noticed inside the boot the tongue is stitched to the interior between the third and forth eyelet for about 1/4 inch along the outside stitch line. Is this correct?

Yes, it is supposed to be stiched. It's to prevent the tongue of the boot from slipping to one side with wear (which I find very annoying). By stiching it to the side, the tongue of the boot is kept centered when laced up and while you're wearing them.

Yes. Both Crocket and Jones (the maker of your boot) and Edward Green (another fine English maker) stich the tongue on one side.

If you ask one of BB sales representatives to pick personally the boots with the sole you'd like, leather or rubber, it is a strong chance you'll get what you want, because I have seen these boots with either sole.
