Great pair of shoes These shoes fit true to size and were comfortable right out of the box with little break in time. The shoes are a very dark brown and do have a higher than normal shin but are beautiful shoes. The quality is excellent and on sale are a great buy, a steal really. If your size is available, I highly recommend this shoe. April 23, 2013
Good fit and high quality English made shoes. The fit is good on these (but I've owned primarily English shoes so I generally know how they fit). They are a bit shiny but nowhere near as shiny in the photos. The shoes remind me of Church's polished binder and they felt very comfortable out of the box. They do not look too clunky even with the double sole. February 3, 2013
Well made shoe though a little too shiny Like all Peals this is a very well made shoe that if maintanined will stand in good stead. However I was put off by the absence of arch support and somewhat low instep that did not fit me well. Tried both the 11 and 1/2 and 12 but ended up returning both. January 14, 2012

Yes, they are US sizes. I found them to be very true to fit. I wear a 13 and these fit perfectly

Is this calf? Why does it look so much like cordovan? I see no grain at all on the surface of the shoe.

You are correct as the shoes do resemble cordovan but are leather. They are a higher shine than normal but not overly shiny. They are a great shoe and I am very happy I made the purchase

There is a pebble grain on the top of the show below the twee. The color is a dark brown (close to a cordovan).
