Rated 1 out of 5 by Soles are of poor quality & excessive stretching First, the cap portion of the toe is small and looks out of proportion to the rest of the shoe, but this is minor compared to the quality issues. This shoe is far below the quality of the other made in the USA shoes I've purchased from Brooks. Immediately after purchasing a squeak developed while I was walking, which was quickly followed by a gap forming between the welt and the sole. Also, almost immediately the the ankle hole or "neck hole" (I'm not sure what the technical term is?) stretched a good deal from how it was for the first wearing or two. The stretch causes two problems: (1) My heel slides around in the shoe considerable, and (2) unattractive wrinkling exists all over the uppers just forward of the heel. The real "kicker" came when, at only 6 months old, the dovetailed rubber piece of the combination heel fell off of the right shoe. Luckily, I was able to pay a cobbler fix it, but I think that is uncalled for (furthermore, the cobbler pointed out that the same was about to occur to the left shoe as well. I paid her to fix both shoes). I should not need to pay to have a 6-month-old, well-cared-for shoe to be repaired. June 21, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Stylish captoe I was in the market for a black captoes, and to me this one with the perforated strip across the toe, was a notch up in arrearence. A couple months ago I had purchased the BB Medillion Perforated Captoes, in walnut, and was very pleased, so this was the one. This shoe is made on a slightly long / narrow last, so whereas I take a 9-9 1/2 D in some shoes ( because my right foot really needs a 9 1/2 ), the 9 D was a spot on fit. Break-in took about 5 minutes as I was putting on my shirt and tie, then super comfortable. Another feature I really like is the rubber overlay on 2/3 of the sole, which on the rough steets of ST. Augustine, Fl., is a real good non- slip feature. July 26, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Solid Pair of Shoes These shoes are made for Brooks Brothersby Allen Edmonds, however I believe that the shoes made for Brooks are better than the current AE offerings for several reasons. First, the uppers used by Brooks are a beautiful French calfskin which means they are not shiny and have a nice soft finish to them (and I believe them to be better than AE's usual calfskin offerings). Also, the linings in the shoes are very substantial and as a result the shoe holds its shape well. I also believe the shoe is cut slightly narrow as I have very narrow feet and for me the fit is snug and secure. While AE is known for making shoes without a steel shank, the shoes from Brooks feel shanked and offer very good support. I also like the fact that the rubber half-sole is very thin so the shoe maintains its "dress shoe" appearance while still being very comfortable to walk in. Finally, Brook uses an English heal (i.e., a a dovetailed combination heel), which is not offered on most AE shoes, particulalrly at this price point. Overall, these are very well made and classic looking shoes. I believe that Brooks has used its own specifications, and combined them with a very good American manufacturer, with the result being a very solid pair of shoes. December 20, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by comfort right out of the box I bought the brown version of these this summer and since they are super comfortable, stylish, and made in USA, I bought the black ones. My wife and I went for dinner the first time I wore them and then went for a walk after and they were super comfortable - can't say that about many pairs of dress shoes I've ever owned. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Classic Shoe and Made in America This is a terrific shoe for several reasons. First it is made in America by a quality manufacturer and the quality of the uppers is very supple and good. Second, the fit runs a little narrow which is perfect for my long slender feet. Third, the support of the shoe is very good and rubber half-sole is not too bulky which maintains the "dress shoe" look of the shoes. Finally, the shoes that have that English dovetail combination heel. Great pair of shoes for a very fair price. December 23, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by my new favorite shoes I have difficult to fit feet, so it seemed risky buying shoes from the website. When I received the shoes, I was relieved and happy to find that the shoes appear to be a tweaked version of what had previously been my favorite shoes. The previous shoes I had purchased directly from the manufacturer. For these shoes, it looks like Brooks Brothers made some improvements to one of the manufacturer's designs and put its label on them. Brooks Brothers has better color options than the manufacturer offers under its brand. January 18, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best shoes I've owned in a while I tried these shoes on at the Brooks Brothers store in Danbury, CT. I was impressed with how comfortable they were compared to my other shoes. I've been wearing them for about 3 weeks and absolutely love them. July 3, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful shoe that actually fits my foot I find it quite difficult to get a nice shoe that fits my foot well. I usually have trouble because I need a shoe that has a high instep, but that is a bit wide. This shoe not only fits my foot, but looks absolutely stunning! I purchased it in the walnut colour, and it looks beautiful with a tan suit! January 7, 2012

Answer:
Allen Edmonds, not Alden. It is the fifth ave with slightly different sole. I have it in black and it is my favorite of four Allen Edmonds pairs... really nice I'm thinking of getting a dark brown pair too.

Hello, thank you for your inquiry. For our Perforated Captoes, you may have them resoled at your local cobbler. These particular shoes are not Allen Edmonds brand, so it is probable that they will not resole them for you.

Hello, thank you for your inquiry. For the walnut-colored Perforated Captoes, we recommend our Shoe Cream for Calfskin, item 036H in "tan."

Answer:
Hello sir, many thanks for your inquiry into our Perforated Captoes. An "E" measurement attached to the size reflects a greater width, "EEE" being the widest. If you find that your feet are a bit wider than average, perhaps you would do well to select a 9 1/2E. However, if your feet are larger than is typical, you should select a 9 1/2EEE. In addition, a "D" is generaly considered to be average and perhaps your best bet if you do not consider your feet to be greater or less than the average.

We do hope this information is helpful in your selection.
