Rated 5 out of 5 by The Quintessential Man Bag This duffel has a very luxurious air to it. Everything from the color, to the detail and appearance of the bag, makes it a stylish alternative to the standard canvas or ballistic nylon duffel. Due to the nature of its material, it probably isn't that good an idea to bring it to the gym or beach—a canvas or nylon duffel might be better suited for that purpose—but as a man-purse, or even a weekend bag, it will serve you well. I purchased this item in the brown color, and the shade of brown is beautiful. It's distinctly brown, but has a slight reddish hue to it. It's worth noting that it's actually quite big. The dimensions stated are incorrect (as of the time of this review), and the length of the bag is definitely over 20", instead of the 15.5" stated. I wasn't expecting it to be as big as it was. Regardless of the size, due to the fact that it's made of soft leather, it's still quite appropriate as a murse. Nonetheless, the bag is gorgeous, and the leather feels luxurious. It's definitely not the rugged type, and if you toss it around, it might scratch a little—I'm certainly not going to try. The Football Leather duffel (#929F) might be a viable alternative for those of you looking for a more rugged version. Overall, this bag looks good, nay, amazing, and should last me for some time. Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent bag - not exactly as pictured I purchased the brown leather bag. The leather is amazingly soft; very supple. Excellent quality and detail. I was somewhat surprised to see golden zippers and grommets - in the picture they are silver, and I would have preferred that. However in the item description it does say brass - perhaps there was a change somewhere along the line. Additionally the bag came with a luggage tag, lock (with BB logo) and key. Nice touches. Another reviewer remarked that the bag was somewhat larger than the listed dimensions. Mine was 10" wide, 21" long, and 13" tall, as opposed to the listed dimensions of 15 1/2" x 10" x 15 1/2" June 20, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lovely brown leather bag This leather bag is just gorgeous - just the kind to complement a simple but sophisticated warm color look exiting the airport / hotel /etc. As the previous reviewer noted, it's quite large - the reviewer's measurements seem more accurate than the posted description. It should serve well as a 3- or 4-day trip type of bag. It's so pretty I'm almost afraid to use it. I would love to hear recommendations on how to care for it if anyone has them (in the Q&A). I used the bag from the get-go, without any sort of leather care products whatsoever, and it seems to hold up well. There aren't any noticeable scuffs or scratches so far. Unfortunately, accidents do happen, and sooner or later the leather will likely get a little scuffed, but it seems to be holding up well.

I use this bag during weekend trips and occasionally as a gym bag, but at the end of the day, treat it as a leather product and it should last you (don't toss it onto a gravel sidewalk or running track and there shouldn't be a problem at all).

As far as water resistance goes, it's porous, and not suitable or pre-treated for heavy downpours, so if the bag gets wet, dry it off as soon as possible. Light drizzles are fine--there may be patches here and there, but it disappears after it has evaporated. If you wish, I suppose you could use some spray-on waterproofing, but I haven't tried that.

I absolutly LOVE the look of the football leather bag, it's a few incher shorter than this softer leather one if going by the reviews which suggests the leagth is exceeds 20 inches compared to the 15.5 inch listed. However, the football review makes worried about the 'stiffness' of the football leather...making the opening a struggle. Where as the soft leather duffle looks far more functionable. Long question short...does this bag keep it's structure regardless if it is full or not? A saggy bag is no bag for me :) Thanks!

I'm responding to my own question as I ultimately purchased this bag vs the football leather. All reviews are spot on, The Perfect Bag! Leather is extremely soft, similar to BB's women's gloves, extraordinary! I definitely foresee the leather scratching (brown), but I think any type of wear will add charter. The piping seems strong to keep the softness of the leather structured when empty, but still a fairly new purchase so I'm projecting the piping will frail over time. I plan to keep it stored within the bag cover it came in, and hanging the bag by the shoulder strap to maintain the form.
Overall, I know I made the right choice!
