I ordered this shoe on 12/31/11 and got it about 5 days later. I haven't worn this shoe out yet but I'm sure that I'm going to get alot of compliments on this shoe. I usually wear size 10, but there was non available when I ordered it, so I chose size 9 1/2. The size 9.5 i chose is really tight but I love this shoe so much that I wont mind wearing it like that and hope it will expand as time goes on. The quality could be a bit better but lovely shoe though.

Answer:
They are modelled on the Prince Albert slipper which was used by English gentlemen to walk short distances between home and waiting cabs, or to local grocery stores, pubs, theatre, Opera house etc. They are basically worn when you take your shoes off but you are not ready for your bedroom slippers, they are between a shoe and a bedroom slipper.
Traditionally a gentleman would wear his shoes during the day, return home to change into his slippers. If he planned to stay at home he would use his bedroom slippers, but if he planned to dine out he wore his "Prince Alberts" or "pumps" to Dinner or to the Opera or theatre.
After a hard day in your shoes a gentleman wants to "slip into something a little more comfortable", the Prince Albert was the answer if he had any social engagements to attend.

Answer:
They can be worn for that purpose (formal parties held at home), but velvet slippers are chiefly black-tie footwear; to be worn with a tuxedo.2 years, 3 months ago

Answer:
Anyone who understands the protocols of formal dinner wear will understand that the slipper is actually the correct thing to wear and that the leather shoe, albeit patent leather, is not actually the correct protocol. The Velvet slipper, especially the Edwardian, is absolutely the correct and appropriate thing to wear.

Answer:
As my 6' 4" cousin, Bubba (not a nickname), once said to me when I was an early teen, "Boy, real men wear pink, and eat quiche." If you grasp what he was saying, you needn't ask the question. Nonetheless, I sh'll answer it: a categorical YES, unless you are insecure about your masculinity.2 years, 8 months ago

I realize this question seems to have been asked and answered, but are these black or navy? Item description says black, but depending on which monitor I view them on, they could be black or dark navy.
