I absolutely love this bag. The entire product is very durable and perfectly functional. The strap is a good width and length, it isn't too thin and, with the leather pad, I can walk while wearing it for hours without pain. The compartments in the messenger are quite useful. In my bag, I generally keep my laptop, a notebook, a small textbook, a binder, pens and pencils, and a calculator - all without excess bulk.
In a previous review, a person wrote that the belt buckle is hard to open and close. This bag opens with a magnetic snap underneath the buckle. It is very easy to open as the buckle is just for show.

Canvas Messenger Bag
It would be great if the Canvas Messenger Bag was also avaiable in a smaller size [12 inches] many people do no carry their laptops nnow that the IPad is perfected.A bag a bit smaller would be lighter and more comfortable to carry? In addition the belt loop buck,e should be a clasp or Velcro or snap for fast easy opening and closing. I know.the belt loop is the old prey eEnglish touch but a pain to open and close

Great bag, but the measurements are wrong.
This is a great bag, it looks even better in person. The feel is beautiful and it looks like good quality. It is not 18 inches though... When I went to the store I measured the length and it was about 15 inches; I didn't realize until I was home that there was a lip inside the bag that made the main opening about 14 inches, which ended up being to small for my laptop. Such a bummer too because it is a really nice bag.
