White Cotton Pique Tuxedo Vest 3 5 4 4
Off target This is NOT a classic white tie vest. The covered buttons should be removable to be replaced with a mother of pearl white-tie set and the rise of the vest is wrong. BB shows the model in a tuxedo shirt rather than a pique shirt, which is going completely off the rails as far as formal attire goes. B-Squared: please rent a copy of Downton Abbey and watch it TODAY! February 29, 2012
Swing and a miss! I wear "white tie" approximately 5 or 6 times a year which makes renting a shirt, vest and tie rather costly. I had a nice set up until last fall when someone spilled red wine all over everything and ruined it. So, I had to go searching for another set of pique shirt, vest and tie. I'm a big guy, 6'3", 270 lbs. To my joy and excitement, BB offers detachable collar pique shirts up to a size 20" neck which I don't need...I"m about an 18 1/2". So, I had the shirt down and simply needed to purchase the vest...they don't make the vest in anything bigger than a large! The large fits chests up to a size 44". I don't know about anyone else out there, but it would seem to me that if you are going to sell shirts up to a 20" neck, you should at least stock vests to match said shirts up to a 48" chest. It would seem to me that someone walking around with a 20" neck and a 44" chest might find themselves the star of a circus side show. If BB would simply correct this issue and order larger vests, they would have a veritable monopoly on descent pique formal wear...sadly, they dropped the ball. July 1, 2011
Frankly, I was a disappointed I love BB's formalware. But I returned this particular vest as the fit wasn't right and, for the quality level, I thought it was overpriced. January 14, 2011
Love Brooks' formal stuff I bought this one for my grandson. Let's see, that makes at least 5 I have bought over the years. I believe I'm on my second, then there is one for a son and one for a son-in-law. It's classic and very nice! October 2, 2009

is a white tuxedo vest only to be worn with tails or would it be appropriate for a groom to wear a white bow tie and vest with a classic/conventional black tuxedo?

Answer:
The first many years of the "dinner jacket" were before the introduction of black tie. The dinner jacket was essentially an alternate jacket to wear with formalwear to slightly less formal occasions.

Answer:
Wearing a white marcella vest like this with a dinner suit is entirely correct; it's a more formal halfway point between black tie and full dress. You can see a good example of this in the classic movie "The Thin Man," when William Powell wore the combination at the dinner party near the end. However, this only works with a stiff- or semi-stiff–front shirt with a high, detachable wing collar (like the one offered by Brooks Brothers)—and a self-tie black tie. It's never appropriate to wear a white evening bow tie with anything but full dress (tailcoat, &c.).

Answer:
It's the groom's day. He can wear what fits his taste and the bride approves. It would be most appropriate as long as the vest and tie are both of a pique fabric that matches.

Answer:
Hello, thank you for your inquiry. The buttons on our White Cotton Pique Tuxedo Vest are indeed sewn. If you are referring to the buttons on the shirt beneath the vest, they are studs. Our tuxedo shirts have a removable button strip, which provide the option to include formal studs to be used instead.

We hope this information is helpful in your selection.
