jazz at Lincoln center
Friday, April 17, 2015
As the official clothier to Jazz at Lincoln Center, Brooks Brothers invites you to experience an unforgettable evening commemorating the life and music of celebrated saxophonist and clarinetist, Joe Temperley. Join us for a special performance and private reception at Jazz at Lincoln Center. For the past 25 years, saxophonist and clarinetist Joe Temperley has been the heart and soul of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. In a career that has spanned several decades, he has consistently moved audiences with his warm tones and subtle depth of emotion. Temperley, now 85, has performed with the orchestras of Humphrey Lyttelton, Woody Herman, Thad Jones-Mel Lewis, Clark Terry, Joe Henderson and most notably, Duke Ellington, as well as in the Broadway musical Sophisticated Ladies. In honor of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra’s elder statesman, band mates will debut arrangements of Joe Temperley’s Ellington favorites as well as his original music. Managing & Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis will present a three-movement concerto, written as a dedication to Temperley, about whose playing Marsalis says: “There is no greater sound on earth.”
Additional Highlights of this Experience Include:
  • • Pre-concert cocktails in the Ertegun Jazz Hall of Fame.
  • • Immediately following the concert, Brooks Brothers guests will join members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra for an exclusive cocktail and dessert reception.*

the elephant man
Thursday, January 22, 2015
This year, Brooks Brothers is pleased to present this invitation to a very limited engagement with two-time Academy Award® nominee Bradley Cooper (American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook) as he returns to Broadway in Bernard Pomerance’s Tony Award®-winning classic THE ELEPHANT MAN. After the performance, enjoy a private champagne reception and meet-and-greet with members of the cast. Directed by Tony nominee Scott Ellis, THE ELEPHANT MAN is one of the hottest productions to emerge from the prestigious Williamstown Theatre Festival, where it had theatergoers lining up hours ahead of time in the hopes of securing a ticket. This extremely limited engagement also stars Academy Award nominee and Emmy® Award winner Patricia Clarkson ("Six Feet Under") and Alessandro Nivola (American Hustle). Based on the real life of Joseph Merrick, THE ELEPHANT MAN tells the story of a 19th-century British man (Cooper) who became a star of the traveling freak show circuit. When the renowned Dr. Treves (Nivola) takes Merrick under his care, he is astonished by the man’s brilliant intelligence, unshakable faith and, most of all, his resounding desire for love and understanding. He introduces Merrick to the beautiful actress Mrs. Kendal (Clarkson), who is deeply touched by this pure and genuine soul. As a complex friendship blossoms among the three, Treves and Kendal struggle to protect Merrick from a world of questionable intentions… and so begins a story of love as unique as “The Elephant Man” himself.
