Worth the Long Wait
I ordered a pair of these shoes in Burgundy at the beginning of July 2010. They were immediately placed on backorder, and the delivery date was pushed out numerous times. I ended up waiting four months for these shoes, which is a staggering length of time for a non-custom product. I waited impatiently, and with trepidation, as I read several internet blogs bemoaning a drop in quality of the Alden-made shoes. At various points I considered canceling my order to seek an alternative.
I am glad I waited. The shoes finally arrived last week, and they are absolutely gorgeous. I can find no significant flaws anywhere - the leather is wonderful, the seams are all straight, and there isn't so much as a misplaced stitch. On top of that, the fit is as close to perfect as an off-the-shelf pair of shoes can be, and they were comfortable right out of the box.
This is my second pair of Brooks Brothers Shell Cordovan shoes, and I'm just as happy with this pair as I was with the first. I would buy them again without a second thought.
As long as Brooks Brothers keeps offering quality items like these shoes, I'll keep coming back for more.

Better than I expected
I thought these were going to be good, but they are even nicer than I expected.
#8 color is very dark. Red-black, but it will get lighter with age.
The fit on these shoes is perfect for me. I selected true to size (I normally wear 8.5, and I purchased 8.5). Apparently these are using the Alden Plaza Last which is true to size.

Alden Shoes Are Among the Best in the World
Alden are THE master craftsmen when it comes to Cordovan shoes. The durability, fit, and comfort are exceptional.
