wonderful shoe
This shoe, in black shell, is simply the quintessential business shoe. Frankly, a guy can't go wrong with either color. If properly cared for, these will last a career - particularly give Alden's restoration services.
My experience with the width is quite different from other reviewers, however. I typically take a medium (D) width in Alden, but sometimes a C width. In light of the reviews (that this shoe runs wider than normal) I tried a B, C, and D width, all in the same size. I went with the D width. I also compared this shoe in D width against Alden's factory version of this shoe - model 9016 - in D width. Model 9016 in D width was considerably wider (indeed, too wide for me). Model 9016 is on the Hampton Last; this shoe is on the Snap Last.
In summary, I would put this shoe's width either at "normal" or perhaps slightly more narrow than normal.
And, as always, it is worth noting that Alden is the master of shell cordovan.

Alden is the best
Spectacular, hard wearing shoes of the highest beauty. Shell cordovan only improves with age - and the style of these shoes is timeless.

Super Dress shoes
These are the ultimate business shoes. Because they are cordovan they are always shiny, all you have to do is buff them for a sec with a paper towel. They just keep looking new and are very comfortable. The cordovan leather feel hard to the touch when you buy them but it molds to your feet and gives a great fit. Te only down side is the shoe is alittle heavy.
