Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by best jeans in 20 years Nice job. These are like the Levis of my youth. No corners cut. Big enough but not baggy. Hold their color enough but soft and light. Wow. August 25, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by I love these jeans! They're costly, but you're paying for superior quality materials and construction. The cotton feels soft but sturdy. They make me look put-together without looking like I'm trying too hard. They have a higher waist like most trousers used to be cut 60 years ago, so they're not as fitted as other jeans. For a retro look I like to turn up the cuffs a bit with my black & white Chuck Taylor hi-tops, while cuffs down looks smart with a pair of ankle boots. The dark wash looks perfect with a sportcoat for casual evening activities. Due to the cost I wouldn't wear them for doing dirty work like painting or changing oil, but they're great for loafing around the house or going to a bar. March 1, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by USA made 501s Great product! Brooks Bothers and Levis 501 jeans made in USA, as they should be. Price is more than fair for product quality. I have been wearing 501s since high school (I am now 51years old). I was disappointed when they quit making levis in the USA. I will definitely be purchasing more of these jeans. November 5, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by A definite fave I have the lighter of the two pair. They have a very nice color quality about them. For lack of a better term, the color has more dimension to it. The pant has a very clean stylish line and they fit very well. My only qualm, i prefer the narrower opening of the 505 they sell here. Goes great with a polo, dress or sport shirt. February 14, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Made in the USA comes at a premium Better than average jeans. But made in America comes at a cost. The denim is not as hardy as I remember from 30+ years ago. Also be warned the fit is different from other Levis 501s of the same marked size, as the BB version is cut slightly slimmer than the normal Levis 501. The cost to quality ratio to me does not warrant the extra premium over the standard Levis 501, unless you do care that it is made in the USA. October 18, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by 501 in dark wash So first i have to admit that I bought the 501s as a second choice for the 505s that i typically buy. My local BB store didnt carry the 505s, so i grapped that 501s instead. I'm extremely happy with the outcome. Fit is a little more snug than typical 501s - and keep in mind that these WILL NOT SHRINK in the wash. Fabric is lighter weight, soft, but will certainly keep their shape. I'm still breaking mine in... as they need some time to conform your individual body shape. They are worth the price and could potentially be a good investment down the road... as used Levi's made in America can potentially be a good investment. August 31, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very Nice Jeans I have both the dark and faded BB 501s. The dark are light weight, soft and have an even dark wash which makes these suitable to wear to the office on Fridays and under sport coats. These are good for spring through fall in the north. The jeans hold there shape well after washing and do not stretch a lot when wearing. Unfortunately the side seam is not taped properly and after washing does not lay straight. The faded pair are certainly soft and a heavier weight denim, and more suitable to wear from fall through spring in the north. The side seam is better on the faded pair, but the jeans stretch a lot with wearing so some folks may want to size down a bit. Overall nice jeans for the price. April 15, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by BB Levi's look great wish for selvedge though The fit of these levi's is the standard 501 original fit. Bascially they fit like all the 501 levi's since 2008 redesign. The previous reviewer clearly got his 501's before 2008 and mistakenly thinks that BB 501 levi's are a bit tighter than the rest:) On the subject of sturdiness he may have some point as the materials (pocket fabric) or jean fabric (not a selvedge but still good) are perhaps not as sturdy as Billy Reid's workewear 501's. So I would like to see even better selvedge fabric version with hidden back pocket rivets (1947) but surely it would have to be priced higher. As it is these are great jeans for the price. Answer:
These Levi's are made in the USA. Where jeans were ORIGINALLY made. You're paying more for skilled USA craftsmen/women, the Brooks Brothers quality pledge and an all around more finely crafted pair of Levi's than you'll find in a big-box store. Do a side by side comparison and see for yourself.

I suppose I'm asking the more general question: how, specifically, do Brooks Brothers Levi's differ from conventional Levi jeans? Apart from being made in America, do they resemble Levi's that were manufactured in the 1960s, i.e. those that had copper rivets and a leather label above the back right-hand pocket?

Our Brooks-Brothers Levis denim styles are unique and can only be found here at Brooks Brothers. Our denim has the classic Levi’s leather patch on the back, as well as a Brooks Brothers Golden Fleece logo imprinted on the inside. These denim washes are also exclusive to Brooks Brothers.

I have bought two pairs of the Levis 501's based on the great construction, and great fit provided. My concern is with the use of the light weight denim. Do you think it will wear in normally ? Will the denim tend to " thicken " after washing like some of the lighter weight selvedge denims ?

Answer:
There is a WSJ article that seeks to answer this question titled "How can Jeans Cost $300." It is not a particularly convincing article. The way I see it, given the cost of other Levis products made in the US, the BB product is not a bad deal at all.

Answer:
Bob, I own a pair of each Levi's for Brooks. I am pretty comfortable in saying these are a better quality product than the typical levi's. The cut, the fit and finish and the washes are nicer. I have at least 6 pairs of Levi's not by Brooks, and they are not as nice as the 3 pairs of Brooks. Any compliment I've gotten on my jeans, were all the Levi's for Brooks, in particular the 501 with the lighter wash. I think this accounts for the markup.

After years of buying Levis I know I can always wear a 32x34 without even trying them on. These were no different. I've washed/dryed them twice now with no change. Normally I'm skeptical of mail-order purchases but there's no reason for worry here.
