Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 143 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by non-iron chinos I bought my first pair of non-iron advantage chinos on a trip to Chicago and enjoyed them so much I probably have bought ten more pairs since then. Very comfortable, a variety of fits to choose from(as well as colors) and wrinkle free material that is, well wrinkle free. I have taken them off and dropped them on the bed to only act as a blanket for my dog’s head and after sleeping on them all night I put them on in the morning and they’re still fine. Now not like they just came off the shelf, but multiple times better than pants costing twice as much. Most pants, including others that say they’re wrinkle free, wrinkle immediately behind the knees, especially if you sit for a while. I can wear them one time to ten times for these and I don’t have to send them to the cleaners, just wash, tumble dry and hang up. Other than your wrinkle free, pinpoint cotton shirts these are the best wrinkle free garments you can buy. January 18, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Look & fit great; wear poorly These pants fit fantastically well (at least for me), and they are well-constructed. After wearing through three successive pairs of khakis each within one year, I can't justify continuing to purchase them. The fabric treatment used to keep them wrinkle-free causes the bottom of the cuffs to shred, making them unwearable in other than very casual (gardening?) settings. If I could get two years out of them, I'd continue to buy, but only one year doesn't justify the price. May 19, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Staple Work Pants for More than a Decade I wear the Elliot almost every day to work and replenish every year. Over the the last 5 years the quality has dropped significantly. Fraying happens more quickly on the belt loops and cuffs; the pocket material is also more fragile. I'll continue to buy because of the great fit and true no-iron material, but wish the quality would return to the standard of a few years ago. September 24, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good for summer or business casual We bought 3 pairs last summer and my bf wore them every day for work for about 6 months. They're great because stains come out with a little pre-treatment, and they're really non-iron, which is great for pleated pants. The pair that he wore the most wore a hole through the rear pocket (admittedly, he has the fattest wallet -- physically speaking, not metaphorically -- that I have ever seen, at least 2.5 inches thick!), so this is not surprising. The cuffs did not fray, however, which I take as a sign of durability. We bought 3 pairs again this summer -- 2 in his favorite color, 1 slightly darker -- and thinned his wallet considerably. Hopefully, these will last longer than the pairs from last summer. Oh also, the "British Khaki" color = not a fan. It's a dark-ish khaki with a reddish undertone. It's a difficult color for medium- to light-skinned person to wear in general, but also difficult to match it to shirts. I actually think that this is the one shade of khaki for which a completely white shirt will actually clash. It looks ok with a black or navy top, however. July 6, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Good, but frays long before any wear is evident Fine pants, but the fraying on the hemmed cuffs occurs relatively quickly (within 4-6 months). Of course, I wear the heck out of them, so I only see the fraying as a nuisance. January 4, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by fraying cuffs I own numerous pairs. The slacks look great but the fraying at the hems is very fast ... cannot recommend as a result. June 2, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good chinos and khakis Good looking, decent fit khakis and chinos. Only negative, which seems common these days, is shallow pockets. So when you sit down, and cross your legs, the change flows out of your pocket! Sure would be nice if they used a bit more cotton to make the pockets deeper. June 15, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Cuffs solution Agree with other posts about fraying cuffs. Otherwise great pants in terms of look, fit and wear. All my dress pants have to be long-rise; these are the best-fitting non-tailored pants I've worn. Have been buying them for years. Cuffs problem seems to have accelerated after the shift to no-iron. I even changed to a one-inch shorter inseam to try to address it. Now I find myself taking the pants to a seamstress after about a year to have the cuffs removed. They don't look as dressy cuff-less, but I get longer wear out of them that way. August 30, 2012

Because of no iron treatment, creases are permanent and you are not able to alter length of these pants. Would be difficult to accept discontinuation of such common size. Please advise.

I ordered 3 light weight advantage chinos and they just arrived but are much lighter in weight than the advantage chinos I have ordered in the past. I actually wanted a heavier but am confused as to what to order. I have 4 pairs that are much heavier in weight and that I get dry cleaned.

Answer:
Hello Rae 1973,

If the category heading states seasonal trousers around January or February, then the trousers would be a lighter fabric for spring and summer season. Also, it would state in the product description if it is light weight.

Thank you for contacting us.

Answer:
Hello, thank you for your inquiry. Our Thompson fit is more tapered at the leg and has a straighter fit than the Elliot. Both fits do however, have a pleated front.

We do hope this information is helpful.

My question above asked whether these are the same pants, not a general question about laundering clothing. He wants the same pants. Was there a change in the pants to make them go from Dry Clean Only to Machine Wash? Thank you.

Answer:
Hello, thank you for your inquiry. Our Elliot Advantage Chinos are specially-treated with an enzyme finish for effortless maintenance and resistance to wrinkles. As such, we do not recommend letting them out at the hem or waist because it will be evident where the seams were originally. We recommend sizing up and trying another pleat-front fit that is slimmer, such as the Thompson.

We do hope this information is helpful.
