The Brooks supima Oxford-cloth Polo buttondown-collar shirt is the direct descendant of the buttondown shirt introduced by Brroks Brothers at the turn of the twentieth century; for over 110 years, it has rightly been the benchmark by which all similar shirts are measured: style, quality, and durability.
I particularly appreciate the Oxford-cloth colorings: blue, yellow, and, most of all, pink.
My recent purchase of this item in yellow was no disappointment...extremely pleased.

I certainly hope that Brooks Brothers never ceases to offer at least the current basic colors and stripes in their classic Supima original oxford cloth buttondown.
I also hope they continue to be made in the USA and are available at reasonable prices. This is the quentessential button down and the collar, material and fit is perfect. I think I've probably tried every kind of better quality button down on the the market--not that there are that many in the class. This is the standard by which all others have to compare. Please keep them on your shelves for those of us who are not "non-iron" affectionados. They are my go-to shirt. Have been for 30 years and hopefully will be from now on.

I have always loved the Brooks Brothers OCBD. I am not a fan of the non-iron stuff because it doesn't have the hand of soft cotton. You have to iron these suckers, but it's well worth the time. They are a go-to shirt for me in winter time when I need something to go under the sweater. I wear them like a sport shirt in summer, especially the white ones. You can dress them up or dress them down and they are always appropriate. If you don't own at least a half dozen of these, you're not even in the game.

I have been purchasing these shirts for 20+ years. I recently switched over to the no iron type. They do not last very long and require ironing anyway if you want to look presentable. I went back to the traditional shirt and it appears that they are now being made smaller. I wear a 16x34 and have for years. I have lost 8 lbs. in the past 2 months but these shirts are tight in the shoulder and the gut. I will probably return them. BB is not the same institution that is was.

I love these shirts. They are the only work shirts I wear anymore. I have donated most of my others to charity. The cotton is fantastic and they are actually still made in the USA. They also seemingly last forever. A while back, they were out of my size in white and when I contacted BB customer service, I was told they would not be receivuing anymore of them. Well, I made my feelings known to Brooks Brothers and thought I would not be able to get them, but they have my size in stock again. Brooks Brothers PLEASE DON'T STOP PRODUCING THESE. and keep makinig them in the USA as that makes a differece to some of us.

Rated 2 out of 5 by LValley Of the 2 shirts, 1 was small and had blue stain
Ordered two white shirts. One was fine, the second was small in the neck, too short, and had a blue stain. It didn't used to be this way, but unfortunately this is not the first time in recent years that I've found you can't just order a BB shirt in your size and rely upon it to fit as it should.
When you get a good BB shirt, there's nothing better. But your chances of getting one seem to be about 70%. Oh well.
Also, ultimately they took several weeks to arrive. On the positive side, I received regular email updates so I knew of the delays.

Brooks Brothers has always had the best looking shirts. I simply won't wear anything else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BlownoutBarbour Jermyn Street? Look No Further Than Brooks!
Is this the best shirt in the world? That's a matter of opinion of course. But I think this good old American-made Brooks classic beats all the folks on Jermyn street any day by its elegant simplicity, generous tailoring as is Brooks style, and a strength to stand up to laundering like no shirt I've ever had. And if you get the slim fit like I have, it fits like a glove! It's humble, understated, not flashy at all. I predict with good care it will last a solid 20 years. Plus, maybe you like non-iron, but I don't. (I have had Brooks non-irons that didn't wear well.) I love the feel of cotton in it's truest and most natural form, and this is a staple for every gentleman's wardrobe. For the quality the price is unbeatable, because I've seen just okay quality shirts for many dollars more. I wouldn't buy these classic cotton shirts from anywhere else, not even Jermyn Street.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BDMan Great Button-Down Shirt
I have purchased both the solid and striped Brooks Brothers Classic All Cotton Original Polo Button-Down Oxford Dress Shirts. These shirts have a great collar roll, they look great with a suit and tie or worn as an open collar shirt with khakis. Although I like the color of the "yellow" shirt it is really more of a light orange color. I would prefer a more canary yellow color button-down shirt. The only drawback with these shirts is that they do shrink a little in the wash, they crease easily when they are ironed and the crease is difficult to remove. In addition, I would also prefer that these shirts come with the classic patterns available with the non-iron button-down dress shirts (which, by the way, still need to be ironed). These shirts will last a long time and I would recommend them to anyone who likes to wear classic oxford cloth button-down shirts.

I love these shirts for the dense supima oxford cloth!! I wish the Collars and Cuffs were UNLINED like years ago. The blue is NOT blue enough but ALL the other colors are great. I still enjoy and will continue to purchase these made in USA shirts, thank you BB.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Wabe Original Oxford the best button down - period !!!
I had always been wary of the somewhat high price of BB Original Oxford button downs. Having worn my new shirts a few times now I can say that they are worth every cent. Superb tailoring - great fit - collar rolls exactly right -marvelous heavy weight fabric that feels very luxurious and also very substantial. I have worn other high quality dress shirts but BB has made a believer out of me - these are best shirts I have ever owned.

The Brooks Brothers Oxford Cotton Button Down (OCBD to afficianados) is the very best. They are such a wardrobe staple that I forget how wonderful they are, but after wearing similar shirts from other makers you remember how much better the original is when you put it on.
I especially like that they are a "cotton white" (i.e. slightly subdued).
The only drawback is that they are too blousy for some, but that's why Brooks has trimmer cuts.

This is the shirt that started it all. The benchmark against which all other Oxford Cloth Buttondown Collar shirts are measured. So far nobody has been able to equal, let alone surpass this shirt. The "gentleman's" cut of the shirt body(in terms of both width and length) is a wecome change from makers who use any excuse to economize on material. Once you have worn this shirt, you will be unable to wear an OCBD produced by any other maker.

A wonderful value. These shirts wear like iron, hold up well when starched (lightly) and are appropriate for almost every occasion. I have been buying these shirts since 1971. Terrific. This should be a staple of any wardrobe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by mikecpa Still a great shirt - the only dress shirt I buy.
I've been wearing the #10 shirt for more than 30 years. While the quality continues to exceed the competition, the fabric seems to get thinner every year.
From year-to-year, the fit is never exactly the same.
Made in USA is the best feature.

The doubled collar just doesn't quite roll the way it should, and the fit isn't quite as roomy as they used to be, but the fabric still has that unparalleled feel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Faceliftdr All Time Classic Great Shirt
I haven't worn these classic oxford button downs sine i was in college, ages ago. Well the loss is mine. Forgot how great these are, perfect fit, style and fabric. The only difference between then and now is that the standard shirt came without a chest pocket. The theory was that a Brooks man wore a jacket and didn't need a chest pocket. They were available with pocket, you just had to ask for it. Well truthfully I prefer it without the pocket. Same great quality. Everything old is new again, but this was never out. My error. Alas I have returned to the fgold. You should too. Un believable in white.

I have been buying Brooks Brothers shirts for years. They hold up to innumerable cleanings - I typically use a professional launderer - and maintain their form and appearance for years. I like my cleaners because their button crusher has been broken. However, I can't give full credit to the dry cleaners. Rather, I think much has to do with the quality of the shirts. Not only are the buttons of higher quality, they are sewn on well, seemingly with stronger threads.
I will continue to be a fan of these shirts. Few can meet this consistent quality.

I was most disappointed to find the stitching on the cuffs of the white shirts each had thread "ends" that needed trimming by me; I don't expect to find those loose ends on a shirts of this caliber. I hope that is not a sign of future problems with the cuffs! However, once I did the trimming, I relaxed and enjoyed the otherwise fine fit and classic look!

Rated 5 out of 5 by motcor Always there when you need them.
One of the things that I like about these shirts is that they are the same shirt from year to year. I don't have to guess about how they will fit, I know that the shirt that I buy today will fit the same way as the shirt I bought last year. For me, that is comforting and something that makes me a happy customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BoolaBoola The real deal - but you might have to hunt for it
I've ended up with a number of substandard shirts lately, including some from Brooks Brothers.
This is the real deal - supima cotton (with its distinctive silky luster), heavy fabric, generous fit, narrow seams, etc. It's not perfect (plastic buttons for example) and I think the fabric isn't quite as good as the last-forever cotton they used to use. But it's as close as you're going to get to the genuine timeless American classic.
And it's in a whole 'nother league from the dismal no-iron shirts that Brooks Brothers has been promoting lately (which don't last as long, lack the crispness of unpermapressed cotton, and just look kind of dingy).
Perversely, you might have to hunt for this shirt. Finding myself dissatisfied with the mediocrity of my recent Brooks Brothers shirt purchases, I explained to one of their salespeople that Brooks Brothers shirts lately just didn't seem to measure up. He disappeared into the back room, and to my delight soon enough emerged with a couple of these shirts. I've since bought a couple more, but have had to ask specially each time. Bizarre, and I'm not sure if my experience is an aberration. Maybe Brooks Brothers is trying too hard to appeal to the broad middle market?
Anyway, this shirt is worth the hunt! Highly recommended.

Perfect for business, looks great with a suit or blazer, as well as great with jeans or even over your bathing suit when you go to the pool at a hotel. You always look smart in this shirt. The quality is beyond compare. I am not a purist and I buy these in the no-iron as well as the traditional iron coon.

I have no idea how it happened, but the monogram is about 1/3 up the sleeve, on the sleve, around the elbow. Once I opened the package, I decided it would be too big of a hassle to return it since it took almost 2 months to arrive after ordering online.

The weight and feel of the fabric is superb and the fit is great. I highly recommend this shirt. I wish the other colors were lighter tones, the blue is a little dark and almost a grayish blue while the pink is too red.
