BEST OVERALL WINTER COAT FOR THE MONEY
I HAVE ENJOYED THIS COAT FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS, IT WEARS & LOOKS GREAT, AND IT DOES
WHAT IT SAYS IT WILL DO AS A STORM COAT, PERIOD...THE ONLY AREA I DO FEEL THAT BB
SHOULD LOOK INTO IS THE BUTTON HOLES WHICH TEND TO GET WORN AND ENLARGED
WITH WEAR WITH TIME, BUT THE JACKET STILL HOLDS ITS GREAT LOOK AND KEEPS ME
WARM AS I WAIT ON THE PLATFORM FOR THAT SOMETMES LATE METRO NORTH TRAIN.....

Perfectly constructed top coat
Despite being made in China, this top coat is exquisitely constructed! The wool is Loro Piana, so it is of the highest quality as well.
I really enjoy this full-length overcoat, as it warm, yet lighter weight than the Golden Fleece Westbury. The only issue that I had was sizing. I needed to go down to a 38 in the coat, even though I wear a 40 in a suit.

Timeless Elegance
Received this jacket as a gift a few years ago, and absolutely loved it. I would rate this a full five stars across the board except for the fact that the buttons were not sewn on securely. I actually lost one and have had some difficulty trying to find a replacement.
That issue aside, this coat is warm without the bulk of some of the other options. It works well with formal and casual alike, so it is a perfect winter time travel pick.
I have tested the warmth and wind protection all over the world from mild to arctic climates and this is my choice for any trip. Now I just need to find another front button!

Great Coat
An an earlier reviewer stated, the fabric is woven in Italy; the coat is made in China. Construction appears to be excellent.
Overall, this is a great coat - warm Loro Piana fabric, and fits me nicely - I needed no alterations. The storm system works as advertised; water seems to just bead off in heavy rain or snow.
Only complaint is the top button is placed to where it hits me right at the bottom of my sternum, which exposes more of my chest to the elements. I resolved this problem with a good scarf, but I wish there was a way secure the coat higher than where the top button is placed.
You can pay less elsewhere for a Loro Piana topcoat, but you won't find one with the storm system with this kind of quality, fit, and finish.

As someone who lives in Chicago, I'd like to know if is this overcoat would be more appropriate for late fall/early winter (40's & 30's) or for winter (20's, 10's & 0's)?

I've worn this jacket in Ancorage, AK in the dead of winter. It works, but I would not go back-packing or camping with this jacket. I would say if you had a thirty minute walk and the temperature was in the teens, then you would be okay.1 year, 4 months ago

Answer:
Assuming that you're wearing a suit underneath, I'd say it's appropriate for 0-25F weather. The last time I wore it was when the temp was certainly below 30, and I was quite warm.2 years, 5 months ago

This coat is warm enough to be out in a 20ish degree F day for about 45 minutes or so. The wind protection is excellent. The length is just below the knees (sized correctly) and will provide ample warth. If it is a cold day I would wear a fully lined pair of trousers.1 year, 4 months ago

Answer:
The center back length for a 40 regular is 45”. This is a very standard overcoat length in the market. The coat will keep you warm. It has the Loro Piana Storm System so it protects from the wind/rain and insulates for warmth.2 years, 7 months ago
