These trousers fit well and look good however, like ever other item of clothing that I have purchased that was sourced from third world manufacturers, the overlap of material at the seams is minimal, just enough to hold it together. This is done to save material and maximize profit. Unfortunately this makes the seam subject to pulling apart, while the sewing remains intact. This happened on my trousers after the third wearing. Both side seems at the pockets have separated revealing the white pocket material beneath. I am not obese and did not do deep knee bends or squats wearing these trouser so no undue stress was placed on these seams other than sitting. I am very disappointed. They can be repaired, but really should this be necessary. For the price charged I would expect a bit more robust manufacture. Brooks Brothers markets itself as somewhat upscale, but more and more their products are nothing special.

I have been a customer since the late 1980's and the pant rise is too uncomfortable and wish management would return to the classic Madison fit.

These are actually great gabs for slimmer guys of any age and can be worn year round. The rise is a bit low (though nowhere near as low as a Milano fit) and they are straight cut so if you have more than a bit of spread in the waist or muscular legs it's best to opt for the Madison fit. The previous version were made in Canada not in Asia but the quality endures, in my opinion. Charcoal/gray and tan will truly become your wardrobe staples. Add the 1818 Blazer and you're set.

The pants are of good quality in general but the rise is totally unacceptable. The pants are almost unwearable because of the short rise. It is hard to believe that Brooks Brothers has allowed this to happen.

I've owned BB gabardines before, and been very satisfied with them, even in the heat of Central Florida. I shed a few pounds recently, needed new britches, and took a chance on the Regent fit. I'm 6'4", 220, and wear a 36w x 34l in most trousers. I followed the advice of others, and previous experience, and went a size higher in the waist than my other pants (38x34). The fit, quality, and appearance are great. I gave the fit only 4 stars because you have to know to go up a size in the waist. I like the gabardines better than my BB tropical wool britches. The gabbies are a little more substantial, hang better and wrinkle less. Hopefully the back pocket buttons will stay on. I've had them come off many other BB britches.

Rated 1 out of 5 by formerbrooksfan What good are beautiful clothes that do not fit?
I purchased two pair of Regent gabardine dress pants even after reading the several reviews citing poor fit. I purchased my size as well as one size up. Length and finish were fine, material and stitching all fine. These are very nice pants. But the rise is built for a puppet. The zipper measures around 5 inches long. That makes no sense unless the zipper is simply for show. I sent both pair of pants back immediately, incurred a $7 charge for the effort, and am dejected about the experience.
Of the numerous reviews, nearly 9 of 10 are vehemently opposed to the change in fit of BB's dress pants. Is BB simply deaf to its customers' complaints? Does BB not care? Is BB simply trying to collect the easy money of return postage?
Here is the advice to any potential purchaser of BB dress pants: take a hard look at your self in the mirror en dishabille and seriously consider whether you look malnourished. If so, proceed to order a pair of Regent Classic gabardine dress slacks and enjoy them completely in the knowledge that your body fits within a rare range. If not, find a clothier that is wiling to design pants that drape gracefully from the bodies of the other 95% of men.

Rated 1 out of 5 by ClassicsProf Neither the fit nor the feel is what it used to be
I've ordered at least two dozen pairs of Brooks Brothers dress trousers in recent years, and this order (May, 2013) was the first one that I had to return. The fit was uncomfortable (never a problem before), and the quality of the fabric has markedly deteriorated. I am extremely disappointed and don't see how I could buy again or recommend to others. And unless things change I'll be pretty depressed when my old, made-in-Canada Brooks Brothers gabardines start to wear out.
