Great Every Day Loafer
I own a few pairs of these and they have been my every day workhorse, business casual loafer. I have rotated them for the last two years and take good care of them and they have remained in excellent condition. Extremely comfortable and good looking loafers.

The Classic
The gentleman who wears a pair of Brooks Brothers tassel loafers is wearing nothing short of an American institution. I do encourage you to purchase a pair in black calfskin...and then a pair in the dark brown or burgundy calf. You can order the shoes on-line and be reasonably confident that the fit will be perfect. When choosing the same shoes in cordovan leather, however, I recommend going to a Brooks Brothers store to select the pair in a perfect size. Cordovan leather does not fit like calfskin...but the distinctive qualities of the cordovan shoe are well worth your consideration Then, as a tassel loafer aficionado, you'll find yourself watching for the same shoes in the English tan calfskin and the dark brown suede; Brooks Brothers Classics one and all.

Those are great shoes and compared to their cordovan cousin, they fit well. I had the cordovan versions but always had to bring them to be streched out. Those were very comfortable when I first tried them at the store. Good job BB!

"The Brooks Brothers Classic Tassel Loafer"
This is it! The quintessential B-B Tassel loafer. I have two pair that I bought over the last 18 months. One pair in black and the second in burgundy. Both are the calfskin version. My first pair of these shoe in black lasted me ten years and were still going strong. The only problem was that my foot widened as I got older and they no longer fit. Obviously, that's not the fault of the shoe. What do I like about them? Well for starters, the QUALITY! Second the style and their truly classic good looks. Third, their durability. Don't underestimate this quality, because with proper care, these shoes will last for years. Oh, you will have to re-sole and re-heel them, but with care, those repairs can be made several times before they will need to be replaced. Some words of advice: Use good quality polish, use cedar shoes trees and let them air out for a day between wearings. They will provide many years of yeomanlike service. They look great with suits, casual trousers and even corduroys. Well done Brooks Brothers!

Answer:
It's definitely a rich dark brown. I just polished my pair last evening. The burgundy loafers are advertised as burgundy. I like that color...but not as much. The corodvan tassel loafer is more of a wine. Enjoy.1 year, 1 month ago

I've heard that the cordovan version of the tassel loafer fits very different from the calf version. My foot measures 8.5D and I found the cordovan 8D too snug, but the 8.5D too large. Would the calf version fit any better?

Answer:
Dear DonZThe calf version fits like a regular shoe/loafer. Try them on (both feel wonderful) and pick the pair that works/feels best for you. THe cordovan shoes are a little different...they last nearly forever...but you may find it necessary to go to a size smaller or a different width to find the comfort you are seeking. I wear a 10 1/2 D in the calfskins tassel loafer and a 10?1/2 C in the cordovan. It is well worth your time and the "effort" The cordovan loafers, like the calfskins shoes, are terrific and will hold a shine like a mirror...with just a minimal of proper maintenance and care. Oftentimes, just wipe a damp cloth over a pair of cordovan shoes - after not wearing them for a week or so - and will be amazed at the shine that magically appears. I do wish you well. Do you homework. Step happily and have a wonderful life.

Certainly, it does not have the support as say a cap toe or wing tip oxford...or a walking shoe... but, my feriend, you will find it has as much - if not more than - you'll need. It's a excellent loafer....far surpassing a flat "penny loafer" or mocassin. It's well worth your attention. Buy a can of good shoe polish and go to town. The calfskin leather takes a shine like no other. Enjoy.1 year, 1 month ago
