Hello, thank you for your inquiry. We are pleased that you have asked this because many men struggle with this dilemma. Our Three-Button Suiting Essential Jacket is cut very much like a traditional suit jacket. By mixing this jacket with different color trousers, one typically seeks to achieve an effortlessly casual look. However, when this particular jacket is paired with different color trousers, the formal structure of the jacket will be enhanced by the contrast. In addition, this suit jacket is black which is a bit more difficult to pair with charcoal pants than navy. We advise selecting a sport coat to go with these trousers. We do hope this information is helpful sir and we wish you luck with your selection.
Kind regards,

I am slim so don't want to be lost in the suit. Also, are the pants one or two pleats?

Hello sir, thank you for your inquiry. Based on your jacket size of a 36, we advise against selecting anything in our Madison fit, as it is our fullest. You may indeed find that it is simply too baggy around the torso and even in the legs. We recommend selecting your usual size in our Regent, Fitzgerald or even Milano (our slimmest.)Our Three-Button Suiting Essential Jacket, pictured above, is crafted in our Regent fit, which is trimmer and more updated- with slimmer lapels and a shorter jacket length. You will be pleased with the cut of this suit but if you have additional questions, please call Customer Service at 800.274.1815. A representative will happily assist you with your selection.
We do hope this information is helpful.
