red wing boot Nice boot. Does need to be broken in and the leather will soften up. The color states brown but in actuality more cordovan but still a nice boot. January 13, 2012
Not a standard fit - but a great boot These boots are fantastic, but you'll want to try them on in store before buying. I'm a pretty standard size 13, I can't remember the last time I bought a different size but for these 12 is a perfect fit. Treated well, these boots should last years/decades. January 13, 2012

One Smart Purchase I picked up the Red Wing 9017 Cigar Featherstone Chukkas at the Toronto Brooks Brothers Store during the Red Wing trunk show. These boots are great and can be worn with either chinos or jeans with ease. One caveat, with the high quality leather, it takes about a week to break in. After that these Chukkas feel like slippers. Also be ready for the attention, I got a lot of compliments on with these boots along the question, "Where did you get them?" November 9, 2011

Absolutely.
They've got a traditional welted sole, making it a piece of cake for any cobbler to pop the old sole off and replace it with a new one.
As for the leather itself, with minimal protection and care it will last forever and can always be refurbished with a combination of leather cleaner, conditioner and polish/wax.

I thought it would be more browna s the color chart stated but the color is actualy cordovan. Nice boot though.

The leasther will soften up so I am not sure that how waterproof they are. They have the sole of a dress shoe not a true boot or rubber sole.

Keep the leather well waxed and they'll do an admiral job. I wouldn't recommend spending the day in a car wash with them, but for mucking about the city/country on a drizzly day you're fine.
