Exceptional shoe
This was my first shoe purchase from my local Brooks Brothers store, and went with the walnut finish.
Couldn't be happier with my purchase. Both the colour and style lends itself to chinos, jeans and dress pants. Picked up the matching belt which adds to the finished look. I did see a review which mentioned difficulties with finding a matching belt, which wasn't the case for me. Was hanging right next to the shoes. Will be picking up a pair in black soon.
Have not in the past bought shoes that had special widths, so unable to comment on if these BB/AE shoes fit narrow or wide. Fortunately, I was assisted by a marvellous sales associate and he ensured that my fit was appropriate. There is a nice weight to them and make you stand a certain way. Difficult to describe, other than to say they feel great.
I walk to and from work most every day and am very impressed with how little it took to 'break in' the shoe. Perhaps proving my Mom was always right and a really good shoe doesn't need to be broken in? And as a big walker, I found the sole to be superior to anything I have ever bought. So far very little wear and they can handle the wet that comes with living in Vancouver.

Must have
Super comfy. A must have pair for every wardrobe. I got them in brown, and found them more appealing than black or walnut. Has much better shine and appearance, in my opinion.
As others have mentioned, they are quite narrow. Made on one of the narrowest last by AE. I normally wear 9-9.5 D, but had to go 8.5EEE on these. My feet are not wide, however this shoe's last is truly narrow. Besides that, they are really comfortable, no break in time required. Plenty of toe room, even after going down a size. This shoe works on jeans/khakis/suits, its style is one of those classics that always appear very contemporary and will always be 'in'. I wish they were also available in burgundy color.
I ordered them online but had to go to BB store to get the correct fit. Will highly recommend to try before buying them online. In store experience is 2nd to none. very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Great AE Shoe
I have several pair of Allen-Edmonds shoes, and have had my eye on a pair of Walnut Strands for awhile. When BB started their partnership with Allen-Edmonds, I was very excited to get my hands on a pair.
These shoes offer the superb finish, incredible looks, and lasting quality I've come to expect from AE. Be careful, though - if you are accustomed to buying Allen-Edmonds shoes directly from AE, your usual size may not fit. I usually wear an 11E from AE, but after trying on several pairs of these, settled on an 11.5D.
I get complimented on these shoes all the time, by women and men both. Certainly an eye-catcher in the beautiful Walnut color.

Great Shoes
I have them in walnut. The finish is eye-catching, and they go well with both dress and casual attire. Per a prior review, creme polish is best on these. I only gave a 4 for fit, due to my having both narrow and flat feet. That is no slight on the shoe itself.

Answer:
Yes. As a matter of fact AE often promotes its production of the BB brand. You realize that this shoe, unlike many even more costly brands, comes in real sizes that fit the more classic generation that didn't grow up in loosely fitting tennis shoes. AE is currently in the recrafting mode if you have had the opportunity to wear their older (like 20 + years ago) brands.1 year, 4 months ago

Answer:
becoolman:Yes they are Strands, with the difference being the heel design and that the BB's have a rubber overlay on 2/3 of sole, which I liked for casual use. The recrafting is one issue I checked into. In talking w/ AE -- athough They make the shoes , they don't carry the AE brand name and at this time BB didn't sign up for a recrefting deal w/ AE on the BB branding. But I contacted BB's product specials dept. and was told that although they didn't sign the recrafting deal at the onset, they assured me that they will do so by the time anyone would need to have recrafting done. -- I might add I really like them

I just got off of the phone with the Allen Edmonds customer service department and the woman with whom I spoke indicated that one would not be able to have these recrafted by Allen Edmonds. I have also sent an email and will update as necessary if a different answer is provided. To address your other question, though, the shoes are more or less identical to the Allen Edmonds Strand.

Answer:
Go for Tan, neutral will also work. Tan is very close to Walnut color and will bring about the correct shine. Brown is quite dark, will ruin the appearance.11 months ago

If you are ordering online, how would you know what alphabet to order as a safe bet to avoid returning the order. B seems to be the narrowest and E seems to be the widest. Do you have dimensions for B, C, D and E and how do you measure it, just immediately behind the toes by taking a circular measure or just a foot width measured from the bottom of the foot. Thank you

Answer:
You have the option of going to a cobbler or local Brooks Brothers location for feet measurement. The other option is measure your own feet. We have attached a link to a website, which will instruct you how to measure your feet width. http://www.palmershoes.com/gpage.ht...10 months ago
