Rated 2.5 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by LOVE the new fit. I know that I'm going against the grain here, but I love the new fit. I'm 5'10 and have a fairly muscular build at 230 lbs with a 34" waist. It's hard for somebody my size to find dress slacks that work. Pants with a more modern rise tend to also have legs that are too narrow for me. The new fit has the perfect amount of room if I order the 35 and have the waist brought in one inch #which BB is nice enough to do for free#. The new cut is perfect for me. Although I understand some longer-term BB customers may prefer the older Madison fit, I have to give this fit an enthusiastic two thumbs up. That said, having reworked the Madison fit as opposed to coming up with another name for the new cut may have been a mistake: newer BB customers might not try them and longer-term BB customers want their old pants back. Please consider keeping the new cut under a different name and bringing back the old cut as well. April 29, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by TERRIBLE! Fits like low rise jeans. Why change? I have been wearing the "traditional cut" Brooks Gabardine trousers for as long as I can remember #20+ years#. However, when I went to replace some of my aging pants, I was shocked to discover the radical change in the cut and fit. I purchased 12 pairs #yes, 12!# to replace my old Brooks trousers. I ordered them in the same size I used to wear, but found that they were incredibly tight, with no room in the thighs and seat. So, I returned all 12, and bought another 12 pairs that were 2 inches wider to get something even close to fitting. Well, the waist is a bit better, but the new low rise cut is really uncomfortable and extremely tight in the thigh and seat area. The trousers just don't fit right with the new low rise profile. What was Brooks thinking when they re-designed this classic cut? I read a recent article in the WSJ where Brooks discussed making all of their cuts more tailored. Why? I suspect that your average customer is not looking for trousers that complement their skinny jeans collection! Another note: I noticed that production has shifted to Thailand. Long-time Brooks customers #like me!# will recall that up until several years ago, all of these trousers were made in Canada. I have noticed that the quality of the wool has declined markedly. With the Canadian Gabardines, I was able to go an entire day in the office without noticing any real wrinkles in the seat area. With the new low-quality Thailand material, after 1-2 hours the pants are so wrinkled that it is embarassing. I am now incented, for the first time in 30 years of shopping at Brooks, to seek out a new retailed who better understands their customer for my pants, suits, shirts, etc. This was a very poor business decision by somebody at Brooks, and given all the negative comments I see here, I think there is wide agreement. If I ran the company, somebody would be fired. As an executive myself, I would love to hear a response from senior management at Brooks regarding their decision and their apparent disregard of customer feedback. I'd be happy to personally speak with your senior management, if possible. December 25, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Brooks Brothers has lost its way Having shopped at BB for a good portion of my life, I'm disappointed where these slacks have gone recently. Having probably a dozen pair in my closet, I decided to replace a few and went in to my local store here in Southlake, Tx. I'm shocked at the fit and the fact they had no slacks with unfinished legs in the entire store (I like mine to get tailored). This new cut doesn't fit me right; there's no room in the hips for my standard waist size and they ride too low since they do not have enough length from the crotch to the waist. I'm very disappointed with the change. I'll need to start buying my clothes elsewhere going forward. BB needs to fire the product manager that made these changes to their workhorse/staple wardrobe product for the traditional business man. May 8, 2012
Rated 3 out of 5 by High quality; poor fit Great quality; materials and finish were very good. The fit, however, was disappointing. The rise was very short and uncomfortable. It appears that the pant was made to wear on on the hip, not on the waist (which is what I prefer). December 31, 2011

I see that there are no reviews complaining about the miserable updated cut for the Madison pleated front pants. Does this mean that the original cut is back?

Answer:
No, the fir is the new terrible "low rise, tight thigh, tight seat" fit. Not sure why they changd my absolute favorite trousers after 30+ years.

Answer:
Just left a review on a recent purchase. I would agree that the cut was 'miserable'. Very short rise. It appears that the pant was cut to be worn on the hip, not the waist. Disappointing.

Answer:
Yes the original cut is back and as good as you remember. I had a problem with the new fit and returned them with no problems. BB proactively notified me when the classic fit was back and I now have two new pair. Excellent.
