I own more than 20 of these, all colors. I often buy them when on sale. I bought them for the long-term.They will last a lifetime. I own many black ones and the underarm seams on the black ones always split. I wear a small and they are somewhat loose on me. So it is not like I am heavy set and they are bursting at the seams or I rip them. Because I have so many, I don't wear any one of them more than twice a month, and some not that often. And, of course, just in the winter. My dry cleaner knows how to handle cashmere -- and charges very high prices for it. So I am convinced there is something wrong with the stitching in the black ones. They all wear out in the same place. I wonder if the ones I have bought on sale were really first-quality. Also, if you have not worn a lot of cashmere, black is never as soft as the gray ones. The gray ones are like butter. The black ones are much less soft. So ... beware if you buy these. I am 200 percent certain I have not ripped mine and 200 percent certain I have taken excellent care of them. A big disappointment, given the cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JackR No Issues with Navy Blue
I've heard about the issues with black color so I am glad I it. I have the Navy sweater, and I am very pleased with it. No issues with stitching or seams. I typically wear once to twice per week max during the winter months. The only issue is with the way the collar fits, as it was a little baggie. I have a large, and a narrow neck, cashmere typically fits a little loose so I blame this more on the fabric. A little warm water and a low hair dryer shrunk it enough for a proper fit.
I'd recommend this, but would also recommend waiting for it to go on sale.

Like the other commenter, I bought a Brooks Brothers black cashmere sweater. The neck seam is coming apart although I have only worn this sweater a handful of times in the past two years. I would not recommend this sweater to anyone in black. I also have the turtleneck in sand and it has held up far better, and has been worn slightly more often.
