Rated 3 out of 5 by This a classic which should be made in Scotland Since Brooks Brothers first introduced the Shetland Crewneck to the this country, I believe it should carry a Shetland which is made in its traditional country of origin which is Scotland (ie, from the Sheland Isles) . I would gladly pay more money for the genuine article, however I will not buy a Shetland made in China. Moreover, this year Brooks Brothers advertised a campaign where it emphacized its strong ties to Scotland and even set up a Scottish shop on the 4th floor of the Madison Avenue store to promote these ties. There is no reason why their Shetlands can 't be made in Scotland.. December 23, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by A True Classic Shetland Crew Neck I bought a sweater from this collection last Spring (2012) in a lighter blue heather that doesn't seem to be available this season. That said, it is a handsome sweater, well made, comfortable and fits as it should in my size. I intend to buy the deep purple shown here as well as the oatmeal and olive heather versions. I will say though that for the deep purple that you might want to see it in person as the picture here does not reflect its true depth of color(s). It really is a handsome sweater in that color and needs to be viewed in person to be really appreciated for its richness. Small screens on computer monitors may not do this color real justice. The purple-burgundy iteration is a deep, rich color that pairs quite well with chinos, corduroys, denim jeans or even dress trousers. We recommend selecting these pants in colors that are neutral such as khaki, camel, sand or grey bottoms. For an updated, contemporary look, perhaps consider item MR00187, our Red Fleece Chalk Stripe Fancy Chinos. Or you may consider our 8-Wale Corduroy Pants, MR00197, in our popular Clark fit. Lastly, you may wear this sweater over any dress shirt or sport shirt with a purple, lavender, burgundy or even gray pattern throughout. Layer it under a sport coat for a sophisticated look or over a tee shirt for a casual look. It is meant to be a functional element for your wardrobe, and may be used as part of many looks.
