Velvet Slippers is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best Albert slippers on the US market. My new favorite house shoes, top notch quality. These are made for Brooks Brothers by Peal and Co, which is in turn made by Crockett and Jones. If you know anything about these types of shoes, you'll know that Crockett and Jones has been making these since the 19th century. A side note: these are traditionally house shoes. Though many people wear them with white tie today, this is not their original purpose (That is reserved for patent leather opera pumps). They have a flat sole of soft leather, made as such with the intent to prevent damage to Persian and other such rugs. I'm sure you can tell I'm a bit older, and as such I'll also say that though you might not wear them for their original purpose as I do, you'll like them regardless and make an impression with them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tuxedo shoes Worn with tuxedo. Very comfortable with quilted lining. Recommend getting BB no show socks for added comfort if you like the sock less look. I usually wear size 11 but 10.5 fit me better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quite nice I actually wear these as slippers with pajamas and a dressing gown. They fit well and were comfortable as soon as I put them on. They are quite warm so no risk of cold feet in the winter. Attention to detail during manufacturing was high. I haven't noticed any flaws. The only negative is the sole. And that negative is really caused by the way I wear them. Because the soles are nice, smooth leather, the slippers are rather slippery on both my carpet and wood floors. A simple scuffing would take care of that. I'll never wear these outside so a little sandpaper might be in order. Again, this is not a design or manufacturing issue. it is the way I choose to wear them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Evening slippers that fit perfectly, as do the patent leather ones I have already worn for years. Brooks Brothers is the gold standard.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great quality, but they run EXTREMELY SMALL I wear a men's size 13US/46EU and these would not squeeze on to my feet. The quality is undoubtedly BB, but they didn't use sizing forms from America...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Luxurious & Stylish I purchased these in black velvet to wear on the party circuit. A note, I typically wear a 9 1/2, but I ordered up 1/2 size to a 10, fits great, looks great

Can these be worn with a wool tuxedo?

Asked by: noelugardo
Thank you for your inquiry, kind Sir. You would look quite dapper pairing these velvet slippers with a wool tuxedo to a formal event. In addition, if you would like a more polished look, may we suggest you consider item # 459H or MH00081.

I have two upcoming formal events to attend and I thought it might be fun to switch to velvet slippers. Any guidelines on monagram versus plain?

Is it merely personal taste or does it depend on the type of event? Thanks!
Asked by: DHAG
Depends entirely on the crowd or environment sir. If you're looking to blend in (in a good way) you'll want to steer clear of the attention drawing monogram. That said, they can be a fun way to show off your more dandy side. Or even perhaps your affiliation with a club or University. In the end, if you're concerned about crossing the sartorial line, opt for the safer, plainer, slipper.

Might these be available earlier than Sept. 6?

I have my wedding Sept 7 and would like a pair but that is too close.

We have sizes available in this specific shoe. Is it this style you are inquiring about or the medallion velvet slippers?

Are these to be worn with or without dress socks?

Asked by: naveman8
This is a personal choice. the design of the shoe, with the internal fabric lining, was intended to be an actual slipper capable of wearing with or without socks. That is why it is called a slipper. When Alberts were designed they were not all the high quality they are today, so they were easily replaced and did not need to last very long. Barefoot use was common, hence the design. How do you wear your normal bedroom slippers? With or without socks? Most people prefer to wear socks in order to protect the shoe, which is my own preference as well, but I wear a very thin sock to enjoy the "feeling" of barefoot use without risking the shoe.

Are these true to size or should you size up or down? My normal size is 8.5 US

Asked by: audiophile35
All shoes fit differently depending on last, manufacturer, style etc. BB know their products well, and it is fairly safe to order your actual shoe size, but, of course, everyone does have unique feet and sometimes sizing up or down might become necessary.

Hello, I have these shoes with the BB monogram. I spilled a drink on it at a party by mistake. Any suggestions on cleaning them? Thank you

Asked by: Raghav
I find the best products for these shoes are the French "Saphir" cleaners. They have a velvet cleaner as well as advice on how to clean them. If you are afraid of damaging them further, then take them to a reputable cobbler who should be able to sort the problem out quite quickly

are these waterproof? can they be worn in the rain?

Asked by: eabigelow
You need to get a really good quality waterproofing spray from your local cobbler and spray them a few times, even if you never wear them in the rain. This will protect the uppers and keep them looking new and fresh. Of course, these are really designed to be worn out of the rain and snow, but if you must wear them in the wet, try to waterproof them properly first. Try to avoid waterproof products which contain silicone. A good application of "Burgol Ledersohlenoel" on the soles will help to maintain the leather soles and they will soften slightly and last a lot longer with treatment. The added advantage of sole oil is it helps to keep the moisture out of the shoe.
