Comparing The Plaid Mini With The Black Mini I bought both this umbrella & the Mini Plaid in navy. To compare, the mini plaid is a bit shorter at 21 1/2" & smaller around at 42" coverage arc diameter. The black mini umbrella is a bit heavier and its soft wrist band is unobtrusive and big enough to easily slip over my large women's hand. I love the plaid mini, but this black umbrella's handle/wrist loop design is more comfortable & user friendly. The handles are the same size on each umbrella, but the push button (black) is located close to the handle edge (bit more convenient) whereas the plaid push button is a good 1/4" up on its metal tube where it connects to the wood handle (not a big deal, but it's more hidden under the umbrella spikes when closed). The plaid features a nice snap closure on the umbrella & its storage bag/cover plus the storage bag itself is slightly larger in size making it a more user friendly than the black one. The black uses Velcro closures for the bag and for the umbrella when folding it up. Both open & close quite well. December 17, 2011
Terrific travel umbrella in classic black A great travel umbrella that springs to action at the mere push of a button. A wise and much needed "travel tool" I found at Brooks Brothers while on a rainy day trip in WA DC. December 1, 2011
