Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice coat I bought this recently to replace a lower quality, 10-year old overcoat. I am very impressed with the coat. It is very warm and looks excellent with office wear or even just dark jeans and a sweater. I am 5’8” 165 pounds and ordered a 40S. My shoulders are wide enough that I usually go with a 40S rather than a 38R and I am very glad I did here. The 40S fits well and I would not say I have any extra room. It’s length does hit me at mid-thigh if not even just below. This jacket is very well made and I have every reason to believe it will last a long time. I am very happy with the decision.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made, very warm and functional! I bought this coat about a month ago to replace my aging Macy's long coat. I had the chance to wear it on a night out in Chicago (Temp ~ 6degF) and can say it lived up to the BrooksStorm name. I found it to be warm, wind resistent, and great looking. My pockets came pre-opened and completely functional. The black color looked good, and material has not pilled or shed. The coat is well made, but I was a little disappointed that it was made in China. I know Brooks takes great pride in crafting most of its apparel in the US, so I was a little disappointed. Nonetheless, this is a nicely made coat with great pockets and great warmth. The fit for me (40R) was right on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A comprehensive review of this coat I went back and forth on buying this coat after reading what appeared to be mixed reviews with contradictory facts (i.e. pockets sewn shut?!?) given the price, but finally figured I would pull the trigger with a personal commitment to help others avoid the uncertainty I felt. Bottom line: this is an outstanding coat, and worth the price. For context, I live in Northeast Wisconsin (very cold) and the coat arrived on October 30th. I wore it for the first time on October 31st, Halloween, which was a 20 degree blustery day and - unplanned - I got roped into an outdoor event that night straight from work. Whatever the coat material is, it has great heat retention and wind protection. How do I know that? Because I stood outside in this horrible weather for over an hour with only this coat. I even used the sleeve to wipe snow off my windshield when I finally got to leave. I've subsequently worn it several times in single-digit weather to and from work and around town for short walks and am confident this will meet my Wisconsin cold weather needs. It's neck (as you expect) is open so you will want a scarf for really cold weather, although you can turn up the collars which sort of helps. For the record, the pockets (as of Oct 2019) are not sewn shut and very deep. Aside from strong functional performance, the coat looks great and the wool looks premium. I'd buy it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful item. Real pockets This is my third coat of this type . Very classy and durable . Also, none of these coats have pockets that are fake or “faux” ; they just need to be gently opened as high end brand new items usually come that way!

I'm 5'-8.5", and wear a 40" Regular suit jacket. Should I order the BrooksStorm Short Town Coat in 40" regular or short?

I am 5'-09" and wear a 40S Fitzgerald suit. I have this coat in both a short and regular. I prefer the fit of the short only because I like the length better but both fit fine. I don't think the difference in a short and regular is that important in an overcoat like it is in a suit.

Short or Regular?

I really like this jacket but don't want to get the length wrong. I am just under 6'1" and am wondering whether the 38 short or regular will look better length wise, any suggestions?

A 38 Short would simply be too short, particularly since this Town Coat is already cropped more than typical iterations. Coat Sizing

Is this coat sized to fit over a suit, or should it be ordered one size up? Example, if you wear a size 40 suit, should you order a size 40 or 42 coat?
